Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an all-party meeting after taking the most unexpected but laudable decision – Indian Army has replied to Pakistan in the boldest possible way by carrying out a surgical strike at 12:30 am on Thursday morning crossing LoC. The operation lasted for 4 hours and 38 terrorists have been reported to be killed in this surgical attack. Confirmation of the same has been done by DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh while addressing a joint press conference with Ministry of External Affairs.

Quoting the exact words of Lt Gen Ranbir Singh – “Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to shield them. We don’t have a plan to further conduct such strikes. India has spoken to Pakistan.”

Three things are very clear from this –

  1. India has given an implied hint to the whole world that it will not tolerate any more infiltration and attacks on its soldiers.
  2. This was a surgical attack and not a battle; so there will not be any more similar strikes.
  3. India had stood up to its righteousness by speaking about the same with Pakistan.

PM Modi briefed about the mission and how Army carried it out during the all-party meeting which was called today at 4 PM. Post the meeting, most of the leaders of opposition voiced their support in government’s favour. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said that her party supports Narendra Modi in all actions pertaining to country’s security. She also congratulated the Indian Army and supported surgical strike terming it a “strong message that conveys our country’s resolve to prevent further infiltration and attacks on our security forces and our people.”

It is worth mentioning that Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had personally visited 10, Janpath to brief Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Dr Manmohan Singh, India’s previous Prime Minister was briefed by Narendra Modi himself. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also called an all-party meeting where top leaders of political parties were briefed by the Army about this event.

Almost all the leaders, of ruling party BJP as well as from opposition, have applauded Indian Army for planning a befitting reply to Pak sponsored terrorists hiding in PaK.
